Our very first drive of the year took place in January of 2022 in partnership with Muse AfriKA organization. We collected new and used stationary, school shoes, textbooks, study guides from customers as PnA in Killarney Mall, Roadean school as well as at Sandton Adventist Church. We also received monetary donations. The items were donated to the learners at Tiietsong Secondary School in Alberton. As Nelson Mandela said ‘education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world’. As an organization, we are looking to continue investing in our youth and look forward to doing more similar drives soon.
This year, we brought back our virtual run and decided it would be an annual race starting on the 1st of August every year. After popular demand, we added a distance of 125KM’s to our challenge. We had 125 participants join in 2022. This year we decided to donate larger food hampers which were more expensive but contained more non-perishable nutritious food items. Unfortunately we noticed a decline in the number of donations as compared to 2020, possibly due to the increasingly difficult economic climate in South Africa in 2021. From this drive, we managed to raise R6000 and we managed to donate a total of 20 food hampers to the Society of St Vincent de Paul. And another 50 hampers were donated to the community of Porchville.
