This was our first year functioning as an organization and with very strict lockdown restrictions it was difficult to mobilize action. Our first drive as an organization was a clothing drive, the clothes were donated to Frida Hartley Shelter for Destitute women and children in July 2020.
In June that year, we hosted a sandwich making event where a small number of people came together to make sandwhiches for the less fortunate. We made a total of 42 sandwhiches which were donated to the homeless community.
In September, we hosted another sandwich making event. As lockdown restrictions began to ease, we were able to host more people at our event. This time we were able to make and donate just over 200 sandwiches to the homeless community in Rosebank.
Our virtual race over was hosted over the month of August and we had 125 participants join our very first race. We raised a total of R11000 which allowed us to buy food hampers which were donated to the residents at the Sisters of Mercy Immaculata Shelter. We had one generous participant who donated R5000, this greatly contributed to the success of this drive.
